Royal Visit for Life Fitness Facility in Scotland

The Queen has visited the new Life Fitness equipped fitness training suite at sportscotland’s National Centre at Inverclyde.

Joined by The Duke of Edinburgh, The Queen explored the newly upgraded and extended Xcel Fitness & Conditioning Suite as part of a visit to mark the 50th anniversary of the centre. The Queen officially opened the facility in 1958, which was acquired with funds raised in memory of The Queen’s father, King George VI.

The fitness suite, which caters for members of the public as well as elite athletes, has been completely revamped by Life Fitness. It is the first facility in Scotland to offer the new Inspire series of treadmills with attachable screens and also offers a selection of cardiovascular products as well as a fully progressive range of resistance equipment including Hammer Strength Olympic Platforms and racks.

“The team really liked the idea of zoning, so we have created a number of separate training spaces divided by screens to guide users of all levels through their exercise journey. They have also included our new branding with inspirational images of people taking part in activity,” explains Alan Louden Territory Development Manager for Life Fitness.

The redeveloped fitness suite now meets the British Olympic Association strength and conditioning standards, meaning the centre will be able to host sports squads and teams working at the very highest level. The National Centre is one of Scotland’s leading sports training venues and has been included in the training camp facilities guide for London 2012.
