New Life Fitness Circuit gets rave reviews at Deeside College

Working out has never been so popular since the installation of the Life Fitness Circuit Series at Deeside College in March 2006. The equipment has caused quite a stir among members and there are waiting lists for the ‘Express Gym’ classes, which are taught three times a day on the Circuit products. The Lifestyle Fitness Gym at Deeside College in Flintshire, North Wales, is one of the first facilities to install the new Life Fitness Circuit.

Darren Ward, member at the Lifestyle Gym, comments: “I thoroughly enjoy the Express Circuit class and have recommended it to fellow members. The equipment is simple to use and it’s easy to find the correct resistance. The alternate exercises between machine and floor work are really good. It means that you are always looking forward to the next goal and stay highly motivated throughout the session.”

Alison Jones, also a member at the Lifestyle Gym, adds: “I tend to work myself harder during the classes, than when I go into the gym on my own, because the instructors give me the support and encouragement I need.”

The Life Fitness Circuit equipment is set up in a dedicated studio and classes are run every morning, afternoon and evening. A typical class lasts for 30mins and includes 30sec to 1min on one of the 10 machines, followed by the same time period on one of the aerobic stations and so on until every exercise has been completed. The aerobic component of the class can be undertaken at level 1 (relatively low impact) to level 3 (challenging). Independent use of the Circuit is available to members at all other times. Nada Rigg, Business Development Manager at Lifestyle Fitness, said: “The Life Fitness Circuit allows us to provide straight forward, yet challenging, workouts for beginners through to experienced exercisers.

“We’re finding that during the day we get quite a lot of ladies using the equipment – they’re all quite keen to do some form of strength training, but are not terribly confident using traditional resistance machines and free weights. Then in the evenings, we’ve been quite surprised by just how many experienced male exercisers are using the Circuit. Most are looking for a new challenge and like the fact that they can get a whole body workout in just half an hour.”

Gwennan Henstock, Lifestyle Fitness Instructor, said: “The Express Circuit class is excellent for those new to the gym environment as it introduces them to using weights under supervision, thus increasing their confidence. Also, members can work to their own ability so there’s something for everyone. It’s great fun and very sociable, and members, as well as the instructor, will leave knowing they’ve worked very hard!”

Ian Jones, Lifestyle Fitness Instructor, agrees: “This class allows all different types of people to enjoy themselves whilst working towards their personal goals. We have a very wide range of participants, from people who’ve never exercised before, to daily exercisers. And from members who can only train for 20 minutes in their lunch hour, to those who train for two hours per session.”

The Lifestyle Fitness Gym is equipped with approximately 100 Life Fitness stations. The resistance machines comprise products from the Signature and Hammer Strength Series, as well as Smith machines, free weights and a Dual Adjustable Pulley (DAP). The cardiovascular equipment, including treadmills, cross-trainers, Lifecycles and steppers, has integrated entertainment screens. The gym currently has 1,000 members and is set to reach its target of 2,500 by April 2007.
