Life Fitness launches three core training products to equip fastest growing space in gyms worldwide

Life Fitness has launched three new core training products in response to the public’s increasing demand for equipment that helps train the core muscles. The Back Extension, Leg Raise and Ab Crunch Bench all allow the exerciser to perform a wide variety of progressive exercises.

Arron Williams, Life Fitness Academy Manager, said: “Over the last couple of years the core training zone has become the fastest growing space in health and fitness clubs around the world - most gyms are now looking to offer a lot more than just a few mats and a couple of Swiss balls tucked away in the corner. The Life Fitness core training products provide an exciting addition to this area, providing the user with an array of exercise alternatives suitable for someone new to exercise - looking to boost their ability to carry out functional tasks in everyday life - right through to the elite athlete in training for a demanding sports competition.”

Conforming to the user’s back position, the unique back pad support on the Leg Raise provides more effective stabilisation throughout the range of motion, which makes the exercise comfortable and easy to perform. The Back Extension machine bends the user’s trunk at 45 degrees providing a very effective angle for working the back extensors throughout their full range of motion. Featuring the Ab Cam TM   system, the Ab Crunch Bench minimises hip flexion and maximises abdominal contraction. The integrated weight horn on the bench enables the exerciser to quickly and easily add more resistance.

By incorporating flexion, extension and rotation movements to the exercises carried out on each machine, the user can experience a huge variety of progressive exercises. Arron explains: “The addition of a medicine ball, a twist of the trunk, lengthened levers (eg bent legs to straight legs), or even using one leg at a time, can add a whole new dimension to the workout, providing an even greater challenge for users. And because each piece of equipment offers so many options, keeping even the most experienced exerciser challenged, operators will find them extremely cost-effective as well as space efficient.”

What is Core Training?

When the muscles of the hip, shoulder girdle and trunk work together they form a functional segment called the ‘core’. The core is the ‘powerhouse’ of the body and it represents the ability of your trunk to support the effort and forces from your arm and legs, so that muscles and joints can perform in their safest, strongest and most effective positions.
