Knowsley Metropolitan Borough Council to install VIVO
Life Fitness has been awarded the contract to supply equipment for the refurbishment of the gym at Huyton Leisure Centre on Merseyside. The project forms part of a three year preferred supplier agreement between Knowsley Metropolitan Borough Council and Life Fitness, and involves a £200,000 investment to upgrade the facility with state-of-the-art gym equipment and VIVO, the innovative new connectivity system from Life Fitness.
Derek Jones, Head of Sport and Active Leisure for Knowsley Metropolitan Borough Council, explains: “A client monitoring system was included as an essential part of the tender brief. VIVO is the newest and most advanced product of its kind to come to the market, and we are delighted to be part of this new technology era. Its extensive monitoring capabilities and management tools will enable us to run our business more professionally and efficiently, which in turn will improve the level of service we are able to deliver to our customers.”
Life Fitness has been advising the Council on equipment choice, facility design and layout, and will be providing staff training prior to the launch of the new gym. Neil Hutchinson, Sports Area Manager for Knowsley Metropolitan Borough Council, says: “An increasing number of our members come under the ‘activity for life’ category, which includes de-conditioned users, GP referral clients and juniors. Life Fitness equipment is intuitive and easy to use, as well as being suitable for exercisers with a wide range of abilities.”
The refurbishment of the Huyton gym includes 31 cardiovascular products from the 95 series each with integrated LCD entertainment screens, 26 pieces of strength equipment from the Signature Series, two Cable Motion machines and a selection of free weights.
Andy Gill, Territory Manager for Life Fitness, adds: “We are delighted to be working in partnership with Knowsley Council. The choice of equipment and decision to install VIVO demonstrates a forward thinking and progressive approach, and reflects the ongoing commitment to the health and fitness of the local community.”
Huyton Leisure Centre is one of six sites owned and operated by Knowsley Metropolitan Borough Council. Other facilities at the centre include a 25m swimming pool, children’s pool, five court sports hall, multi activity room, two squash courts and sauna suite.
