Getting the most out of your kit
Any gym can benefit from Life Fitness expertise when it comes to maintaining equipment. Life Fitness Technical expert Peter Nanson says there are basic rules that people can follow to prevent breakdowns. The tips can also be used by people who buy their own equipment for home use. Peter, Life Fitness Key Accounts technical manager, says: “The first golden rule with any piece of kit is to keep it dry. The next is to keep it clean and free of dirt, dust and other particles.”
Peter says following this 10-point plan will help gyms to get the best out of their equipment:
DAILY
* Always read equipment manuals, especially the sections on safety.
* Inspect equipment on a daily basis.
* Report faults immediately.
* Do not allow use of broken or damaged equipment.
* Ensure equipment is used within the instructions supplied.
* Clean with mild detergent (old towelling is ideal), check sensors with dry cloth, check power cables are clear of moving parts and check operation of emergency stops.
WEEKLY
* Vacuum under treadmills.
* Check machines for damage.
* Check for loose bolts or screws.
MONTHLY
* Check operation of recumbent bike seat
All faults should be reported to Life Fitness Customer Support on 01353 660 440 or by emailing uk.support@lifefitness.com
