Britains Fittest Director
During the summer Life Fitness launched the search to find Britain’s Fittest Director. We teamed up with the Daily Telegraph – Britain’s biggest selling quality daily newspaper – to launch the search.
Liz Chessum from the Life Fitness marketing team said: “The idea for the Fittest Director competition came out of reading profiles of top business people in the Sunday newspapers. Despite having hugely demanding jobs they always seem to fit in regular gym visits, often at unearthly hours of the morning! So with all those super fit directors out there, we thought let’s find the fittest!”
The competition generated lots of exposure in the Telegraph which ran the competition over six weeks in July and August, both in the paper and online.
Entrants had to firstly fill out detailed questionnaires about their fitness. Then the shortlisted candidates were taken to Next Generation gym at Hatfield and put through their paces by Arron Williams, head of the Life Fitness Academy.
Arron said: “Everyone was really competitive and very fit in terms of their cardiovascular (CV) ability but the strength tests really found them out.” Among the assessment tests were a bleep test, sit and reach test, pull up test, standing jump test and various other tests to guage the competitors fitness, strength and flexibility.
The winner of Britain’s Fittest Director was Mark Webster, director of a media buying agency based in London, who won himself our top range home gym products – a T9e – the ultimate treadmill, a luxury X9i cross trainer and a smart G5 multi-gym.
Liz said: “The competition kept the Life Fitness name in the paper over an extended period which helps to build our brand name in the minds of customers, which can only be good for our retailers’ businesses as well as our own.”
