Boost for Wanstead High School's Sports Facilities
Life Fitness has been awarded the contract for the redevelopment of Wanstead Leisure Centre, which will include the introduction of a new state of the art Fitness Suite containing 70 cardiovascular and resistance machines; new changing rooms, refurbishment of the existing squash courts and entrance lobby.
This announcement comes after the management of Wanstead Leisure Centre was handed over from Wanstead High School to the London Borough of Redbridge’s Culture, Sport & Community Learning Services (CS&CLS) during an extraordinary governors meeting in November last year.
CS&CLS have been working in partnership with Wanstead High School over the past two years to negotiate an agreement that will see the school’s sport facilities improve whilst allowing the local community to benefit from a leisure facility on their doorstep. It is anticipated that the work, which will be funded by a £600,000 capital investment secured by CS&CLS from the London Borough of Redbridge, will begin early this year.
Rob Jones, Territory Manager at Life Fitness, said: “We’re looking forward to working with the London Borough of Redbridge’s CS&CLS on this exciting project at Wanstead Leisure Centre. We will be equipping the new, state-of-the-art fitness suite with a full range of cardiovascular equipment including treadmills, bikes and cross-trainers, to ensure that exercisers are kept motivated during their workouts.”
Wanstead Leisure Centre is also set to benefit from Life Fitness’ innovative Circuit Series – a space-efficient line of strength training machines especially designed to deliver time-efficient, total-body workouts in an approachable and easy-to-use format. Rob Jones explains: “The Life Fitness Circuit Series offers a straight forward, yet challenging exercise programme for beginners through to experienced exercisers and I’m confident that coupled with a wide selection of more traditional resistance training equipment, there really will be something to suit all members of the local community.”
