Affordable Fitness from Sheffield United and Life Fitness

Sheffield United Football Club is bringing affordable fitness to the centre of Sheffield with help from Life Fitness.

The company will operate a health club at the new four-star, 158-bedroom hotel which is due to open in November. Located at Sheffield United’s stadium in Bramall Lane, the hotel is owned by Sheffield United Football Club and will be operated by Millennium & Copthorne Hotels.

The 65-station health club will be equipped by Life Fitness to include cardiovascular kit from the new Elevation series, which boasts the very latest in entertainment and motivational options. The facility will also offer the Life Fitness Circuit, a range of strength training products that deliver time-efficient workouts for the entire body. The system is easy to use with no weight plates or selector pins and is ideal for novice users as no machine adjustments are required before working out. The range will also host regular 30-minute circuit classes.

Targeting the local community, the club will serve more than 800 members says, Simon Argall, director of operations at Sheffield United. “It’s important for us to offer affordable fitness in the city centre, so we will provide a first class experience with top end equipment for as little as £29 a month.”

With lots of open spaces, Sheffield is one of the greenest cities in Europe and the hotel’s design theme reflects this with the use of natural materials and a nature motif incorporated throughout. To ensure the health club complements the hotel’s sleek look, Life Fitness will be including some of its new brand imagery; inspirational shots of people taking part in physical activity such as canoeing, cycling and mountain climbing in the great outdoors.

“This is a significant project for Life Fitness and continues our great relationship with Sheffield United PLC. This is the third facility where we have partnered with the company and is by far the most prestigious. Based at the home of Sheffield United in Bramall Lane, the gym will more than complement the fantastic new hotel, conference facilities and stadium,” says Nick Mennell, Midlands territory manager for Life Fitness.

Pre-sales for the health club starts at the end of October.
